JACKIE IN THE WAR YEARS (1939 - 1945)

He applied to join the Royal Australian Navy. He was refused entry because his father was Chinese.

Within minutes of this rejection, he applied to the RAAF and was accepted. His sea time was of value

and he was assigned to the RAAF's newly formed 'air sea crash rescue boats'.

RAAF AIR SEA CRASH RESCUE BOATS

From nature lover and sea scout to 6 months as a seaman with the Norwegian Navy. From there,

aged 19, he joined the RAAF. Within 3 months, he was seconded to the hush hush

'Services Reconnaissance Dept'. Months later, he was inserted deep behind Japanese lines

in British North Borneo. He served as a covert operator; up close and personal to a cruel

and determined enemy.
